Trend toward 'conservative' dress at Milan Fashion Week

Milan Fashion Week wrapped up last week (January 18) and on the menswear front there was plenty to take note of, not least of which was the trend toward sophistication and styles heavily influenced by eras from throughout the 20th century.

A number of fashion followers have described the general theme as 'conservative', indicating that 2012 might be a year for men to go back to basics with double-breasted jackets, layering with vests and knitwear, and an overall business-like approach.

The beauty of unique ties is that they can be worn to both the office - as part of you strong corporate image - and social engagements after work for a stylish and confident appearance.

In fact the line between business appropriate and smart casual has become increasingly thin over the years, which certainly makes it easier to plan the transition from boardroom to the bar on a Friday evening - or indeed to go from a long lunch to a client meeting in the afternoon.

To ensure that you are always ready for any type of situation it can also be a good idea to have a drawer of quality ties in different colours and patterns.
