Hardy Amies Cufflinks
In 1945, Hardy Amies established the most internationally successful English couture house. Situated on Savile Row, it became known for its beautiful clothing and accessories for men and women alike. He was dressmaker to HM Queen Elizabeth II from her accession to the throne until he retired in 1990.
In 1989 Hardy Amies was knighted for his services to the Queen. Sir Hardy’s clients included politicians, business leaders, sports personalities and movie stars. He created costumes for many films, including Two for the Road (1967) with Albert Finney and Audrey Hepburn and 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968); wrote 4 books including The ABC of Men’s Fashion, which is still in print, and he was one of the first European couture designers to embrace ready-to-wear and licensing.
